Studio 4 Art is located in Novato, CA and Mill Valley, CA. We are looking for a part-time studio assistant for our Novato site to handle basic clerical tasks and light studio assistant work. Our studio is a hands-on art studio and art retail shop for children, so enjoying an active environment is a must. Must be able to lift 30 pounds, comfortable with messy art, and don’t have a problem standing on your feet for hours. You will be assisting in the organization and running of Studio 4 Art.

You must have:

About the Studio:

Studio 4 Art is located in downtown Novato, CA. Teaching children since 2000 and a brick-and-mortar shop opening in 2008 and a second in 2015. Studio 4 Art has 8 current employees and is expanding.

Seeking a high-energy, enthusiastic, nurturing, and dedicated Art Teacher to teach part-time, 2-5 weekly 1-hour,
art classes for ages 6-10 in our afterschool enrichment program. Our missions is to advocate for children and their
creative needs through a rich educational experience. Providing inspiration, technical fine art techniques, and
incorporating freedom of authentic self-expression through encouraging instruction.
Will train the right artists, with the perfect personality that has worked with kids before.
For your convenience purposes, highly preferable if you live within a 15 minute drive to each school site.

Studio 4 Art is a hands on art studio for children, ages 18 months to 17 years. The studio offers, a retail art supply area, paint-it-yourself pottery, while offering classes and drop in activities in:  acrylic painting, watercolor painting, drawing (in all mediums), cartooning, wheel throwing, ceramics, mosaics, sewing, photography and mixed media. The studio also features children's birthday parties and art camps. Studio 4 Art is growing with classes opening throughout Marin and we are looking to develop additional teaching staff. This is a fast paced, exciting, educational, inspirational, and very fun environment. Studio 4 Art is looking for mature individuals who have:

  • Teaching experience and/ or experience working with
  • children and families
  • Some college-level art experience
  • Ability to be flexible with work schedule
  • Fluency in Spanish (desirable)

You will:

  • Be teaching preschool and elementary school age children fine art skills in our studio(s)
  • Be trained in teaching Studio 4 Art’s philosophy and teaching style
  • Learn all of Studio 4 Arts products and services to permit answering questions and teaching customers the techniques and methods for creating their art projects
  • Be answering customer’s questions, answering the phones.
  • Be assisting customers with scheduling parties, camps, and classes
  • Facilitate programs/classes/projects as assigned by Studio 4 Art
  • Work part-time (10-20 hours a week)
  • Encourage student creativity and enhance art techniques
  • Assess needs of students encouraging them and being assistant to child initiated projects
  • Communicate with parents about what their child is learning or has mastered
  • Participate in faculty committees and professional development as required
  • Actively participate in the continuing development of curriculum
  • Demonstrates mastery of content and pedagogy, knowledge of students and resources
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport, with a balance of fun

College level art experience, preferably ceramics. Knowledge of: child development; behavior and characteristics of students; effective teaching skills; planning and organizing; supervision and control; interpersonal relations. Skill at: creating an effective environment for learning, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Studio 4 Art staff and studio assistants. Must pass a background check.
